Charity Spotlight. Claire Perez. Scoliosis Champion

As part of our ongoing tradition, CityBox Magazine proudly spotlights charitable organizations and philanthropic changemakers who are generously giving back, uplifting communities, and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
One shining example is Claire Perez, a remarkable 16-year-old who has been a passionate advocate and ambassador for children with scoliosis since the age of 9. Diagnosed herself at a young age, Claire turned her journey into purpose by partnering with Higgy Bears, an organization that provides therapeutic stuffed animals to young scoliosis patients. Through heartfelt fundraising and community outreach, Claire has personally delivered over 115 Higgy Bears to children at Ochsner Medical Center and beyond.
Her impact continues to grow, Claire organizes annual fundraisers and was recently featured as a guest speaker at Higgy Con 2025 in Dallas, Texas, the largest-ever gathering of scoliosis patients. There, she shared her story as a philanthropic role model, inspiring countless others to lead with compassion and courage.
